The PTA is an organization that provides educational and enriching programs and services for all children at Wayne Thomas and offers support to teachers and staff.  Volunteering for the PTA is an excellent way for parents to become involved in their child's school and their education.  It is also an opportunity to meet new friends and neighbors.  There are many ways you can support the PTA -- volunteering to help serve food on Food Days, joining a committee, donating time or money, etc.  We welcome your involvement in any way you can!

Below are some examples of events and items that the Wayne Thomas PTA has provided in the past:

  • Flat screen TV in front foyer to display announcements and students' work
  • Books for the Library
  • News and Weekly Reader subscriptions for various grade levels
  • Field Trip funding for each grade level
  • Cultural Arts assemblies and Author visits
  • New playground slide
  • Teacher appreciation dinner 

All families are encouraged to join the PTA.  Membership dues are only $15, which covers the cost to print the Buzz Book directory, mandatory insurance policy fees and annual dues to the state and national PTAs.  Members receive a complimentary copy of the Buzz Book and also receive a "mini" Buzz Book.

PTA meetings will be monthly, alternating days and evenings (with free babysitting available during the evenings) throughout the school year.  We encourage you to attend and take advantage of this opportunity to share your ideas and concerns, provide input on PTA activities, and get updates on current School Board and District issues.  Dates and times are on the website's Calendar.

Families are also encouraged to attend the variety of fun events we host throughout the year, that also help raise money for our school -- e.g., Bingo Night, Family Fest, Ice Skating Night and Breakfast with Dads.  Other fundraisers that may interest you are the Food Days, New and Used Book Sales, and Wayne Thomas Wearables sale.  Information about these events and activities will be posted on this PTA website, displayed on our calendar and communicated via PTA emails and Mrs. Deely's blog.  In an effort to be Green, we will try to limit the paper flyers, so please read the Powerschool announcements and check our website often!
